Announced in the Coronavirus Bill in March 2020, the Government proposes to introduce a temporary right to ‘statutory emergency volunteering leave’ to enable workers, employees and agency staff to take unpaid leave to volunteer in health and social care.
The Government has issued a Treasury Direction which sets the CJRS on a legislative footing and which, in theory, overrides any informal agreement you may have in place with your furloughed employees.
